WHAT TO EXPECT?
Your adventure kicks off at our big white dome tent, right next to the Whakarewarewa Visitor Centre. Our friendly team will get you geared up with your E-Bike, run through a quick safety intro, provide a map, and send you off on your way.
Cruise across the iconic Whaka “Penny-Divers” Bridge and follow the Whaka E-Bike Trail signs into the geothermal valley. Along the way, soak up the sights — steaming geysers, bubbling mud pools, and lakes shimmering in every shade imaginable.

Most riders complete the trail in about 30 minutes, depending on how often they stop to enjoy the scenery or take photos.

What is the minimum age for the Whaka E-bike Trail?
To rent a bike, you must be over 18 years old or accompanied by an adult. There is no strict minimum age for participating in the adventure, provided the child can safely fit on the captain’s chair or in the child seat, and riders are able to safely control the E-Bike.
Recommended heights and ages:
- Captain’s Chair: 130 cm or taller
- Child Seat: 9 months – 6 years old, up to 48.5 lbs / 22 kg
- Explorer Bike Riders: 150 cm– 195 cm
